A firm built like its name.

Fortress Family Law was founded on a simple observation: the people walking into a family law office are usually walking through the hardest season of their lives. They do not need theatrics. They need strong walls: sound strategy, honest counsel, and an advocate who treats their family's future like it is the only case that matters.

We serve families in the district courts across the Denver metro, in Denver, Arapahoe, Douglas, Adams, Jefferson, and Broomfield counties. That focus is deliberate. Family cases move differently in every judicial district, and knowing the local landscape lets us give clients realistic expectations instead of guesses.

Our promise is written into our name. A fortress is not built for aggression. It exists so the people inside can live their lives with confidence. That is what we build for every client: protection first, and a clear path forward.

Jared Decoteau

Jared co-founded Fortress after years running the client side of a busy family firm. His practice is family law, all of it: divorce, parenting time, and support across the Denver metro.

A graduate of American University Washington College of Law, he came to the practice by way of humanitarian work, including time with the United Nations in Aleppo, and he volunteers with the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center and Metro Volunteer Lawyers.

Jason brings a quarter century of Colorado courtroom experience to Fortress, most recently as a senior attorney at CNL Law Firm. He began his career as a deputy district attorney in Durango and has centered his practice on divorce, custody, and support ever since.

A University of Wyoming College of Law graduate raised in rural Kentucky, he brings a prosecutor's preparation to family court and a farmer's directness to hard conversations.
