Colorado family law explained like you are an adult. Four attorneys, six metro counties, and free statute-grade calculators that show you the support math before you ever pay for advice.

Serving Denver · Arapahoe · Douglas · Adams · Jefferson · Broomfield counties

Facing an unsafe situation? If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For confidential support any time, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 800-799-7233, or text START to 88788. Then know this: a Colorado court can issue a temporary protection order the same day you ask, and we can help you get there prepared.

Night One

If it just happened, start here.

If your spouse just asked for a divorce, you do not have to decide anything tonight. Do not move out, do not sign anything, and do not agree to a parenting schedule yet. Colorado builds in time: no decree can enter for at least 91 days, and once a case is filed and served, an automatic court order protects the accounts and the children. Start with three small things: gather your last two tax returns, list what you own and owe, and write down your children's normal week. Then talk to a lawyer, ours or anyone's, before you negotiate anything.

Why Fortress

Built to protect. Prepared for anything.

Most family matters settle, and settling well takes preparation. We work toward calm, workable agreements wherever possible, and when a courtroom is the only path, we walk in ready. Either way, you always know where your case stands and what comes next.

  • Plain answers. Straight talk about your options, the realistic range of outcomes, and what each path costs in time, money, and stress.
  • Children first. Parenting plans are about your kids' lives, not a scoreboard. We build schedules and decision-making arrangements that hold up in the real world.
  • Settlement-minded, trial-ready. We pursue agreement whenever it serves you and prepare every case as if a judge will decide it.
  • Local courts, local rhythm. Every metro judicial district runs on its own habits, calendars, and bench. We build strategy around how your courthouse actually works, not how a template assumes it does.

What to Expect

What to expect when you reach out

Fear of the unknown is the hardest part of family law. Here is how a matter typically moves at Fortress.

Confidential consultation

We listen first. You tell us what is happening, and we map your options with an honest read on where things stand.

A plan in writing

You leave with clear next steps: what gets filed, what gets gathered, what it costs, and what happens when.

Resolve or litigate

We push for fair agreement through negotiation and mediation, and prepare thoroughly in case your matter needs a judge.

Life after the decree

Orders can be modified and enforced as life changes. We stay in your corner after the case closes.

Our Commitments

The Fortress standard

Protection first

Every recommendation is measured against one question: does this protect your children, your finances, and your peace of mind.

Honest expectations

We would rather tell you a hard truth early than a comfortable story that falls apart in court.

Transparent costs

We bill in plain language, flag anything unusual before we do it, and would rather talk about a bill than surprise you with one.

Responsive by design

Silence from your lawyer is its own kind of stress. You will know what is happening in your case.
